VB Kanchi Veerans

ABOUT
ABOUT

VB Kanchi Veerans is a cricket team playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. They are based in the city of Kanchi or Kanchipuram. They are rather one of the underperforming teams of the TNPL and have been failing to deliver consistent performances over the two previous editions.

Baba Aparajith is the captain of the VB Kanchi Veerans, and they are coached by the spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan and Bharat Arun. Both the captain and the coaches have been same for the previous editions and will be retained for this year as well.

Background

The VB Kanchi Veerans are owned by former Indian cricketer V B Chandrasekhar. They have a young but talented captain in Aparajith, and will rely heavily on the likes of Aushik Srinivas and Sunil Sam. They have also brought in exciting medium pace bowler Sandeep Warrier.

The Veerans were known as the Thiruvallur Veerans for the first two editions but have changed their name to VB Kanchi Veerans for the 2018 edition.

Prominent Achievements

The inaugural edition of the Veerans was a disappointing one as they only managed to win two games while they lost the rest of their five games. Their second season was far better compared to the first season, as they finished just outside the playoff places, level on points but failing to make it on the net run rate.

Career Trajectory of the Team

The first two seasons have been far from bright for the Veerans. However, for the 2018 season they have left most of the things unchanged and their setup remains pretty much unchanged. It remains to be seen how they will perform in the tournament with a lack of big names in their squad.
