As for BFC, they would probably have taken a point before the encounter, in light of the young squad they fielded. However, once they were a couple of goals up and had only a few minutes remaining, they would perhaps be ruing the loss of two points.

57' Williams has a bit of time on the left flank and he looks to measure a cross-field through ball for Krishna, who makes a run in between the centre-backs. But, the pass just eludes the latter as the keeper claims it

From exactly the same position as Dimas' free-kick in the first half, Edu lines up a shot but opts for a slightly different technique. He opts to cut across the ball and that means that the ball just slices wide of the far post

Soosairaj waltz past Kima and Gursimrat on the left flank and looks to enter the box. But, Gursimrat then tugs Soosairaj down on the edge of the box and predictably, goes into the book

50' Frater finds himself in a shooting opportunity just outside the box and the Jamaican lines up a left-footed shot. But, his shot isn't clean and it takes a slight deflection too before Dheeraj gathers it

My colleague, Aaditya Narayan tells me that the assist Leon Augustin produced is pretty similar to the countless times he has laid on goals for his teammates in the Bengaluru FC B outfit. Apparently, he specialises in getting to the by-line and then cutting it back for his onrushing strikers to latch onto it and smash it into the back of the net.

No wonder, he has looked at home in the opening 45 minutes!

Bengaluru FC began the game brightly and immediately started dominating possession. Despite not creating many clear-cut chances in the opening quarter of an hour, they still looked capable on the ball and seemed likely of prizing open the ATK defence.
In the 18th minute, Dimas broke the deadlock after some questionable goalkeeping by Dheeraj, although the goal was warranted on the balance of play. Thereafter, Frater doubled the Blues' advantage to put them firmly in the driving seat.

As for ATK, the host of changes seem to have rid the Kolkata-based outfit of their attacking impetus and they've often looked a side that has lacked ideas and imagination. Krishna has had a few good touches in the opposition half but that hasn't been enough to carve out any openings for the visitors. ATK have a gargantuan task on their hands trying to salvage anything from this game but with Krishna and Williams in the mix, one would be naive to completely write them off.

40' ATK's midfielders have not been able to get on the ball and influence proceedings. Subsequently, they have had to advance down the flanks, wherein they just haven't gotten the requisite penetration sans Prabir and Soosairaj

38' Williams scores but it won't count!
ATK hoist a deep cross into the box and Williams nods it down. Krishna then tries to hold the ball up but in the process, only blocks Serran's path. He ends up fouling him and even though Williams smashes home the loose ball, the referee has already blown his whistle for Krishna impeding Serran

37' Jayesh wins the ball off Dimas in midfield and then sets ATK on another attack. They then work the ball towards the right, where Pronay's cross is blocked by Juanan

Augustin has been a constant thorn in ATK's side and the Indian again gets in behind Mongil, courtesy a brilliant through ball by Dimas. The winger then pulls the ball back for Frater, who slams the ball into the roof of the net and leaves the keeper with no chance. BFC are two up!

34' A long ball finds Krishna, who holds it up expertly. He looks to slip in Williams, who makes a run inside the right centre-back but his effort is blocked by Serran. The ball is loose and Khabra gets to it first, before Pronay brings him down

33' Mongil gets it through to Krishna on the left channel and the striker tries to pick out his partner inside the box. But, Serran outwits him and gets the ball off him and thankfully so from BFC's perspective
