What a huge win for the Lucknow Supergiants. They needed this win desperately here which has put a lot of pressure on the Mumbai Indians. Even if they win their last game, they have to be at their best and win big to qualify. Their net run rate is still in the negative. MI plays their last league game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and their net run rate has meant that even a win might not be enough for them to go through to the final four. Another important game coming up tomorrow. Punjab Kings need a win to keep their hopes qualify while DC will be playing for pride. So up until then, this is goodbye and goodnight from myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) and my fellow commentator Shashwat Kumar. Cheers!!

23:54 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Marcus Stoinis (Player of the Match): Great moment for Mohsin. He has been injured for a year so a big moment for him to come and bowl just a superb final over. Look, it was very close obviously. They batted brilliantly, we bowled okay and then some good overs from the spinners and Mohsin towards the end sealed it for us. We have shown in the last two years that we play as a team. There is no single superstar. We are missing KL this year but the other guys are standing up. KP has led really well. I have been spending a lot of time with Andy Flower.

23:52 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Krunal Pandya (Lucknow Supergiants captain): I was having cramps and I felt I pulled a muscle. I have been always a team player and great to bag the win. I mean Mohsin has a really big heart. Someone with a big heart goes a long way. He didn’t play for a year, underwent a surgery and then to come back in the IPL and perform like this shows his mental toughness. Sky is the limit for him. Really happy to end on a good note here. Fans have come out and supported us every day so nice to give them something back.

23:46 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Time for the post-match presentation ceremony with Sanjay Manjrekar.

23:37 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Mohsin Khan: My aim was to do whatever I was doing in practice. Krunal bhai asked me what I as planning to bowl and I said I will bowl whatever I bowl in the nets. My run up is the same. I was trying to keep myself calm. I knew I had to bowl six good deliveries and didn't look at the scorecard. I was thinking of bowling slower balls but then when the batters adjusted I changed it to yorkers. I am playing after one year. I am very happy that I could bowl like the previous year. I was playing for dad who has been in the ICU for the last 10 days. I am thankful to my teammates, the team management and the support staff for including me in this game.

23:39 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians captain: (Where was the game lost) We just lost the game, that's all I want to say. We did not play well enough. There were moments that we did not win - little moments that you have to win. Unfortunate but you have to keep your heads high. (On their strong start) Not really. We assessed the pitch really well. It was a good pitch to bat on. We thought that that score was definitely chaseable. We lost our way in the second half of our innings a little bit. In hindsight, we gave too many runs at the back end. We held up pretty well until then. (On Stoinis) He played really well, playing according to his strengths. Kept hitting down the ground, which is what you have to do in these conditions - credit to him. I do not know how the calculations are going to work. We have to come out and play good cricket again (in their last league fixture).

23:29 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Lucknow Supergiants won by 5 runs

Lucknow Supergiants 177/3 in 20 overs

Marcus Stoinis 89*(47) | Krunal Pandya 49(43)
Jason Behrendorff 2/30(4) | Piyush Chawla 1/26(3)

Mumbai Indians 172/5 in 20 overs

Ishan Kishan 59(39) | Rohit Sharma 37(24)
Ravi Bishnoi 2/26(4) | Yash Thakur 2/40(4)

What a final over and what a way to seal the game. Great win for the Lucknow Supergiants as they storm up the points table, securing the 3rd position. It wasn't easy for Mohsin Khan defending 11 and he did that quite comfortably in the end. Mumbai Indians still keep their hopes alive but it gets a bit difficult for them from here on. Even if they win their next match, they are not guaranteed a finish in the top four.

Mumbai Indians needed to get off to a good start to get anywhere close to the victory target. 178 was never going to be an easy run chase but the LSG bowlers failed to execute their plans in the powerplay which allowed MI to get off to a great start. Ishan Kishan started off the onslaught with a flurry of boundaries before Rohit Sharma took the onus on himself to find the boundaries.

Rohit struck three incredible sixes and Ishan kept finding the gaps on a consistent basis. Both of them batted superbly and when they were at the crease, it looked job done for the five-time champions. However, the wicket of Rohit Sharma turned the game on its head and from there on LSG forced their way back into the game and managed to squeeze out some tidy overs in the middle.

Ishan Kishan scored a brilliant half-century and after his departure, the onus was on Suryakumar Yadav to get them close to the target. His dismissal without bothering the scorers much was a huge moment in the game. Nehal Wadhera also didn't manage to find the gaps as MI lost their way a bit towards the final half of the innings. They struggled to get the boundaries and it was only when Tim David came out in the middle that he kept them in the hunt with some lusty blows.

The penultimate over from Naveen Ul Haq went for 19 runs and the pendulum was tilted towards the Mumbai Indians again. Mohsin came out with a superb final over and managed to nail his yorkers. It was Ravi Bishnoi who broke the backbone of MI with the wickets of Rohit and Ishan but the final over will be remembered from Mohsin. He looked a bit emotional during the post match presentation and dedicated his performance to his father who has been in the ICU for the last 10 days.

23:33 (IST)16 MAY 2023

End of over 20 (5 runs), Mumbai Indians 172/5

Tim David 32(19)
Cameron Green 4(6)
Mohsin Khan 26/1

23:33 (IST)16 MAY 2023

19.6 Mohsin Khan to Tim Da

LSG WIN! Slower delivery on a length outside off stump. David swings for the hills and chunks it off the inside edge towards deep backward square leg. Gets back for the second but LSG have won this tight, tight contest by five runs!

23:27 (IST)16 MAY 2023

What a superb final over and he has also sealed that for his team.

23:32 (IST)16 MAY 2023

19.5 Mohsin Khan to Cameron Green

yorker outside off stump again. Green cannot get underneath it and can only clink it towards extra cover. Just a single. One more legitimate delivery, and LSG are home!

23:26 (IST)16 MAY 2023

This can't get better than that from the bowler. Perfect yorker and it wouldn't have been possible for any batter to put bat to ball.

23:31 (IST)16 MAY 2023

19.4 Mohsin Khan to Cameron Green

WHAT A BALL! Exceptional yorker slanted across the batter outside off stump. Green tries to dig it out but is late on the stroke. The ball fizzes under the bat and de Kock makes no mistake with his collection. Dot ball!

23:25 (IST)16 MAY 2023

This has been a terrific over so far from Mohsin. Still 9 required off 3 deliveries. Now the onus is on Cameron Green to get them over the line.

23:30 (IST)16 MAY 2023

19.3 Mohsin Khan to Tim Da

very full delivery outside off stump. David sits deep in his crease and can only slice it towards deep cover point for a single

23:25 (IST)16 MAY 2023

MI need 10 off the last 4 deliveries. MI needs a six here and LSG needs a wicket. 10 off 4 required. Mohsin will be under pressure.

23:30 (IST)16 MAY 2023

19.2 Mohsin Khan to Cameron Green

dug into the track on off stump. Green clears his front leg and drags it towards deep mid wicket. Gets David back on strike!

23:29 (IST)16 MAY 2023

19.1 Mohsin Khan to Cameron Green

back of a length delivery on off stump that hurries onto Green. Tries to heave it away but can only splice it back to the bowler

23:23 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Mohsin Khan [2-0-21-1] to bowl the final over

23:22 (IST)16 MAY 2023

MI desperately needed that six off the final delivery and Tim David responds yet again. He did miss out on a couple of length deliveries but he has still kept MI well within reach. 11 required off the final over now. Naveen Ul Haq will be very disappointed after a wonderful day at the office.

23:27 (IST)16 MAY 2023

End of over 19 (19 runs), Mumbai Indians 167/5

Tim David 29(17)
Cameron Green 2(2)
Naveen-ul-Haq 37/0

23:27 (IST)16 MAY 2023

18.6 Naveen-ul-Haq to Tim Da

IN THE ARC, AND OUT OF THE PARK! Naveen ventures into David's slot outside off again and this time, gets dispatched. Clean swing through the line and David bludgeons it into the sight screen!

23:21 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Two crucial dot balls in the context of the game and this could decide the match here. David has challenged the wide decision here. He moved well across the off-stump there, shouldn't be a wide by the look of things.

23:26 (IST)16 MAY 2023

18.5 Naveen-ul-Haq to Tim Da

another length delivery outside off stump that seems to nip away just a touch. David continues swinging and for the second successive ball, misses. Looks like David has reviewed this, asking for a wide. He seemed to shuffle across, and this call might not get overturned!

23:25 (IST)16 MAY 2023

18.4 Naveen-ul-Haq to Tim Da

slot ball outside off stump and Naveen is lucky to not be indulging in some neck exercise. David swings hard, perhaps too hard, and only connects with the fresh Lucknow air

23:19 (IST)16 MAY 2023

That slipped out of Naveen's hands and Quinton de Kock couldn't quite pick that up. Huge moment in the game. 17 required off 9 now. Free hit coming up, can David take full toll?

23:24 (IST)16 MAY 2023

18.4 Naveen-ul-Haq to Tim Da

OH DEAR! Chest-high full toss outside off stump. David swings and misses. But because the ball is so full, de Kock can't gather either. Races away to the fence. So, MI not only get five runs, they now have a Free hit as well!

23:18 (IST)16 MAY 2023

LSG needed to bowl this over within 3 and a half minutes. If the fails to do so, they will allowed one fielder less outside the 30 yard circle for the final over.

23:17 (IST)16 MAY 2023

There's another delay here. Naveen again needing some assistance on his finger.

23:22 (IST)16 MAY 2023

18.3 Naveen-ul-Haq to Tim Da

full and outside off stump. David shuffles across his stumps and drills it towards long off. Green is always coming back for the second and the throw, rather surprisingly, is to his end as well. Green is comfortably home, though

23:21 (IST)16 MAY 2023

18.2 Naveen-ul-Haq to Tim Da

INTO ORBIT! Slower delivery that lands right in the slot outside off stump. David winds up and absolutely mows it over the wide long on fence!

23:20 (IST)16 MAY 2023

18.1 Naveen-ul-Haq to Tim Da

another sizzling yorker outside off stump. David has a massive swing at it but gets no bat whatsoever

23:14 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Naveen Ul Haq [3-0-22-0] is back into the attack.

That was a superb over from Yash Thakur. He kept executing his yorkers perfectly and ended up conceding just 9 runs. 30 runs still needed off the last two overs. The quality of the bowling has been superb under pressure.

23:19 (IST)16 MAY 2023

End of over 18 (9 runs), Mumbai Indians 148/5

Cameron Green 2(2)
Tim David 15(10)
Yash Thakur 40/2

23:19 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.6 Yash Thakur to Cameron Green

yorker that hones in on the batter's toes. Green uses the pace and glances it down to fine leg for a couple of runs

23:19 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.6 Yash Thakur to Cameron Green

yorker fired down the leg side. Green lets this one go as the umpire calls it a wide

23:18 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.5 Yash Thakur to Cameron Green

another brilliant yorker that sneaks under Green's bat. He tries to back away and manufacture room but cannot dig it out

23:12 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Cameron Green, RHB is the new man in.

23:11 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Another big moment in the game. That shot was executed towards the longer side of the ground, Vinod got it out of the middle but a brilliant catch right at the boundary by Nicholas Pooran. This us getting very difficult for MI. Can David do something special again?

23:16 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.4 Yash Thakur to Vishnu Vino

TAKEN ON THE FENCE! Short delivery on off stump and Vinod, after opening up his stance, absolutely laces it. The only problem, though, is that he is hitting to the longer side of the ground and does not quite get the elevation to clear Pooran at deep backward square leg. He holds his nerve, but more importantly, he holds onto the chance!

Vishnu Vinod c Nicholas Pooran b Yash Thakur 2 (4b, 0x4, 0x6)

23:15 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.3 Yash Thakur to Tim Da

top yorker at the batter's toes. David can only tuck it away towards deep mid wicket and settles for the single. Could they have run a second on the throw? It was hit to the longer boundary...

23:10 (IST)16 MAY 2023

The siren goes out and would you believe it, Yash Singh has overstepped here. Free hit coming up. Mi have to capitalise on that.

23:15 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.3 Yash Thakur to Vishnu Vino

back of a length delivery on leg stump that hurries onto Vinod. He tries to swing it away but gloves it towards deep square leg. But hang on, looks like Yash Thakur has overstepped, oh dear!

23:14 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.2 Yash Thakur to Tim Da

banged into the track on leg stump. David heaves it away towards deep backward square leg. Just a single

23:14 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.2 Yash Thakur to Tim Da

yorker that slides down the leg side. David backs away and tries to flick but makes no contact. Called a wide!

23:13 (IST)16 MAY 2023

17.1 Yash Thakur to Vishnu Vino

APPEAL! Full delivery on off stump. Vinod tries the cheeky reverse sweep but misses it completely. Pings off the pads into the off side

23:07 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Yash Thakur [3-0-32-1] is back into the attack.

Excellent response from Mohsin Khan to end the over. The wicket of Nehal Wadhera at the start of the over but he missed his length once which was dispatched for a maximum by David. 39 required off the last 3 overs. This will be tough for MI.

23:12 (IST)16 MAY 2023

End of over 17 (8 runs), Mumbai Indians 139/4

Tim David 13(8)
Vishnu Vinod 1(1)
Mohsin Khan 21/1

23:12 (IST)16 MAY 2023

16.6 Mohsin Khan to Tim Da

excellent yorker angled across the batter outside off. David tries to dig it out but is late in bringing his bat down. Massive, massive dot ball!

23:06 (IST)16 MAY 2023

Finally David manages to get one straight out of the screws. A massive blow, doesn't matter whether it's the shorter side or the longer side, it sails well over the deep midwicket fence.
