Star Indian boxer MC Mary Kom is on a perfect comeback trail, as she looks to win her fifth gold medal in the Asian Women’s Boxing Championship, in Ho Chi Minh City, in Vietnam, on Wednesday.

The veteran Indian boxer has done brilliantly on her comeback trail, as she managed to reach the final of the first tournament she is participating, since making a return to amateur boxing.

Mary Kom faces a stiff challenge in the summit clash of the 48 kg category, in the Asian Women’s Boxing Championship, as she faces Hyang Mi Kim of Korea.

The 34-year-old has had a good tournament so far, as she defeated Tsubasa Komura of Japan in the semifinal, to make her way into the final. She had started off the bout in a slow-ish manner, as Komura put in some good combination moves. However, Mary used all her experience in the last two rounds, to deal the killer blows, moving around the ring with relative ease.

Not only did she show good movement, but Mary Kom also managed to land the punches, whenever she saw the opportunity.

Mary Kom has already been hugely successful in the Asian Boxing Championships, winning the title thrice in the past. Another victory in Ho Chi Minh city will all but ensure a fifth title for the Indian boxer.

The Indian boxer’s good form comes at a good time for her country, as athletes from all over India are looking to get back to full fitness ahead of mega events like the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games, next year.
