Olympics 2021 Sailing LIVE updates: Nethra Kumanan Day 4 Women's Laser Radial Live score, updates & commentary

It's been a lot of fun bringing you the coverage of the event. Nethra Kumanan might not have finished in the Top 10 but is giving her best in the event. She has been performing exceptionally well on her Olympics debut.

In Race 8, Nethra started pretty well as she was placed 8th during the early stage of the race. She fell behind in the race as she dropped to 13th place. Soon, the Indian sailor slipped five spots and found herself in 18th place. Finally, she finished the race at 20th rank.

This might not have been a good race for her as she fell apart as the event progressed. However, there is an improvement in their performance from Race 7. She finished 22nd in the seventh race and has jumped two spots above to finish 20th in the 8th race.

Nethra Kumanan's performance today:

Race 7 - 22nd rank
Race 8 - 20th rank

Anne-Marie, Annalise, and Finland's Tuula cross the fourth and fifth mark as the top three. Nethra Kumanan, on the other hand, slips to the 20th rank.

She finishes the race at 20th rank!

The players have started to cross the third mark. Denmark's Anne-Marie goes first and she is followed by Ireland's Annalise, and Finland's Tuula.

India's Nethra Kumanan moves a place upwards, she is now in 17th place.

A 5-place loss for the Indian sailor at Mark 2, Nethra is now in 18th place.

After that impressive start, Nethra is in 13th place at Mark 1, only 30 seconds behind the race leader!

We haven't seen it so far, but Nethra is in the lead at the start of Race 8!

Nethra crosses Mark 5 in 22nd place and takes a few more seconds as she makes it to the finish line in 22nd position!

A good comeback from the Indian sailor, who was at one stage in 29th place and almost looked out of contention for a spot within the 20s. However, she came back strong at Mark 3 and held onto the 22nd position.

Overall, her 22nd place finish means she's ranked 32nd among her field in the Women's Laser Radial event with 3 races to go.

Race leader Annalise Murphy has crossed Mark 5 in 50 minutes and 51 seconds.

Nethra gains another position at Mark 4, and she's now in 21st place with Mark 5 a crucial stage before a short turn to the finish line. Can she enter the Top 20?

A massive 7-place jump for Nethra! She's now in 22nd position as we round Mark 3.

A tremendous improvement from the Indian sailor, who at one point, seemed to be struggling to stay inside the 20s.

We're now past Mark 3, with race leader Annalise Murphy managing to hold on to her top position since the start of the race!

A minor stumble from Nethra, as she loses two positions, and at Mark 2, she's in 29th place.

27th place for Nethra at Mark 1, as the Indian sailor jostles for position with Soain's Cristina Pujol and Thailand's Kamolwan Chanyim.

A warm welcome to all of you to Sportskeeda's LIVE coverage of today's Race 7 and Race 8 of the Women's Laser Radial event.

Nethra's been a tad bit inconsistent so far in the Women's Laser Radial event, but there's a case for some room for error, considering this is her debut Olympics. The Indian sailor finished Race 1 in 33rd but came back strong to pick up 17th place in Race 2.

Race 3 was even better for Nethra, where she finished in 15th place, her best position until now. However, two races since, she's failed to finish before the 30s, registering 32nd place (Race 5) and 39th place (Race 6).
