Indian shuttlers have had a dismal outing today at the Thailand Open. Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Ashwini Ponnappa lost 11-21, 16-21 to the Japanese pairing of Yuki Kaneko and Mayu Matsumoto earlier in the day. After this, HS Prannoy was stunned by Indonesian shuttler Sony Dwi Kuncoro.

Will PV Sindhu bring about a change in fortune and delight Indian fans?

The 2nd seeded Sindhu will certainly be the favourite as she goes up against Hong Kong's Yip Pui Yin in the Round of 16 match. The 23-year-old has won all three of their previous three encounters.

After comfortably brushing aside the challenge of Bulgarian player Linda Zetchiri and defeating her 21-8, 21-15 in straight games in the Round 1 fixture, Sindhu is expected to defeat Yip Pui in similar fashion.
