WWE SmackDown Results, Live Commentary & Updates, January 8th 2019; New tag team to have debut match at Royal Rumble against The Bar

Here are the results from today's matches:

- Daniel Bryan defeats R-Truth
- Andrade Cien Almas and Samoa Joe defeat Rey Mysterio and Mustafa Ali
- Sheamus and Cesaro defeat The Usos
- Becky Lynch defeats Carmella and Charlotte Flair, and will face Asuka at Royal Rumble

Asuka makes her way to the ring, and exchanges words with her challenger at Royal Rumble.

Charlotte lands a spear on Lynch; Becky somehow gathers some energy and puts Carmella in the Dis-Arm-Her, and Carmella taps out.

Becky Lynch defeats Carmella and Charlotte Flair, and will face Asuka at Royal Rumble

Carmella lands a few slaps and punches on Charlotte but Charlotte lands a huge slap herself and lands a Figure-Four. Lynch lands a leg drop on Charlotte, but Charlotte just kicks out. Becky then puts a Dis-Arm-Her on Charlotte, but Carmella lands a kick on Lynch, and then throws Charlotte out of the ring.

Charlotte lands a huge boot on Lynch and then goes for the Figure-Four on Carmella but Carmella kicks out. Carmella somehow goes for the pinfall on Becky, but Flair kicked out.

Back from the break, Charlotte and Becky are on the ropes, and Becky tries to Superplex Flair, but Carmella drags Becky down and acrobatically tries to bring Charlotte down. She then goes for the pinfall but Flair just kicks out.

Carmella then lands a kick on Becky and then a suicide dive on Lynch.

Charlotte goes to the top rope and tries to land a moonsault on Carmella and Lynch, but both move out. Lynch then lands a Bexploder on Carmella on the outside.

Charlotte lines up Becky and Carmella, and then goes to the top rope, but Becky attacks Charlotte, Charlotte pushes Becky, and lands a double moonsault, but both Becky and Carmella kick out!

Lynch and Flair trade punches and chops; Lynch then tries to take advantage but Charlotte is put into the Code of Silence by Carmella on Flair, but Flair counters. Lynch lands a drop kick on Carmella from the top rope.

Charlotte then lands a big boot on Carmella.

Back from the break, Becky is in the ascendancy and lands a huge kick to Carmella's face. Charlotte lands a kick to Becky and goes to the top turn buckle, but is thrown from the top rope onto Carmella by Lynch.

Carmella goes for a quick roll-up cover, but Charlotte kicks out. Becky lands a few kicks on Carmella and Charlotte, and then a lariat.

Now, it's time for a triple threat match between Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Carmella.

Sheamus lands a Brogue Kick on The Miz, and they then accept the challenge put forth by The Miz.

It's going to be The Bar facing off against Shane McMahon and The Miz at Royal Rumble for the SmackDown tag team titles.

The Miz then makes his way to the ring, and congratulates The Bar. The Miz wants The Bar to put their SmackDown tag team titles on the line against him and Shane McMahon at Royal Rumble.

The distraction helps Cesaro land a Neutralizer on Jey, and get the pinfall.

Sheamus and Cesaro defeat The Usos

... but they're interrupted by Mandy Rose, dressed in a towel, and wants Jimmy's help.

Jey tries to fight back with a few headbutts on Sheamus; Jey climbs to the top ropes, but Sheamus lands a knee, puts Jey on his shoulder, but Jey gets out before superkicking Cesaro and Sheamus, but Jey doesn't have the energy...

Back from the break, Jey is put in a sharpshooter by Cesaro, but Jey gets to the rope to break the submission. Sheamus lands a knee but Jey kicks out once more.

Sheamus is tagged in. Jey is tagged in and lands a superkick on Sheamus, but he just kicks out! What a fantastic match so far!

Jimmy goes to the top rope and lands a crossbody on Cesaro, but Cesaro kicks out... just about!

Jey lands a huge boot to Sheamus' face, and gets the tag, while Cesaro also tags in. Jimmy lands a Samoan Drop on Cesaro and then goes for the pinfall, but Cesaro kicks out.

The Usos go airborne, and Cesaro is even thrown into the crowd at SmackDown!

Back from the break, Jey tries to get the tag, but Sheamus is far too powerful; Cesaro is tagged in and lands a huge elbow drop from the top rope, but Jey kicks out.

Sheamus tags in and goes to work on Jey's shoulder.

Jey lands a huge blow to Sheamus' with a lariat and goes for the pinfall, but Sheamus kicks out.

Jimmy is tagged in too, and Cesaro goes out of the ring, before Jey is tagged in, landing a forearm punch to Cesaro's face; Sheamus is now tagged in and the two trade punches.

The match kicks off with Sheamus and Jey Uso, as Jey works on Sheamus' hand; Jey lands a drop kick and goes for the pinfall but Sheamus kicks out, and tags Cesaro.

Rusev says if Nakamura doesn't come to the ring, he will go to Nakamura to find him, but Nakamura attacks the US Champ backstage, and lands a Kinshasa.

Nakamura is in the TV truck and shows a video package which shows that it was Rusev's fault that Lana got injured and not Nakamura's.

US Champ Rusev is in the ring and doesn't look very happy after Nakamura hurt his wife Lana, last week.

He calls out Nakamura to the ring, and tells him that he will break every single bone in his body and crush him.

Backstage, The Miz is not happy about The Usos getting a shot at The Bar and not him and Shane McMahon. But Shane says there are no shortcuts and that they will have to train and scout challengers before they can insert themselves into the tag team picture.

Backstage, Carmella hypes up her triple threat to the match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, with the winner facing Asuka at Royal Rumble.

The Usos will also face The Bar on SmackDown tonight, and if The Usos win, they get a shot at The Bar's tag team titles.

Back from the break, Ali is dangling from the ropes and acrobatically throws Almas; both men are down and looking for tag. Mysterio is tagged in and the action picks up. He lands a seated senton on Joe, and goes to work on Almas. Ali lands a 450 on Joe.

Ali once again takes out Joe. Mysterio goes for the 619 but Almas counters and lands a Hammerlock DDT and gets the three count.

Almas counters and Joe is tagged in. Ali lands a drop kick on both Joe and Almas; he's caught by Joe on the outside and thrown onto the announce table.

Almas is thrown to the floor, face first by Mysterio as both men are down... Ali is tagged in by Mysterio, he lands a hand scissors takeover, before landing a kick to the face and drives Almas' face to the floor.

Joe is tagged in and tosses Mysterio and lands a few punches before he tags in Almas once again.

Ali counters with a few drop kicks and tags Mysterio as they double drop kick. Almas is then tagged in and the two trade fantastic, acrobatic moves. Almas lands a huge kick and goes for the pinflal, but Mysterio just kicks out.

Back from the break, we see Samoa Joe and Mustafa Ali facing off first. Samoa Joe tries to dominate but Ali gets the counter with a few punches. Joe shoulder barges Ali to the floor, and lands a few punches.
