Kamaru Usman would be one of the toughest fights for anyone in the welterweight division. He is well on his way to becoming the greatest of all time, having racked up a few title defenses in dominant fashion while staying remarkably active for a champion.
Usman is rapidly plugging the few holes in his game. His striking has advanced by an insane amount over the last few years, while his wrestling is up there with the best in the UFC.
Dustin Poirier is a technically superior striker, with his flowing style in stark contrast to Usman's relatively stiff movements. But Poirier would be up against Usman's fearsome power, which would be a massive equalizer. The Louisiana native is no stranger to being caught, and a flush punch from 'The Nigerian Nightmare' might put his lights out in a flash.
Usman would be an incredibly stiff challenge for Poirier to overcome in the UFC's welterweight division.

This is a fight that has been brewing for some time now. Ever since Colby Covington left American Top Team, Dustin Poirier hasn't minced words while describing his former teammate. And recently, the duo have been trading barbs on social media.
Talk aside, Covington is probably Poirier's worst match-up at welterweight. 'Chaos' has everything he needs to counter 'The Diamond'.
Covington is absolutely relentless with his forward pressure, and Poirier probably won't be the one pushing the pace like he usually is. The former interim UFC welterweight champion is also an accomplished wrestler who has managed to smother most of his competition in the octagon.
Covington's slight susceptibility to the guillotine is well-documented, and Poirier does boast of a mean guillotine. But 'The Diamond' would have to fight his heart out to beat an extremely tenacious, complete fighter in Covington.
