Jon Jones is known for being one of the most controversial and strongest fighters currently signed to the UFC. His strength and ability apparently know no bounds... neither does the controversy that comes with him.

Putting aside that aspect of things, Jones has had a fantastic 2019.

Not only did his fight last year against Alexander Gustafsson in December last year ensure that he had made a solid return since he has returned has defeated two other solid names in the UFC right now -- Anthony Smith, and also despite some difficulty, Thiago Santos.

#1 Israel Adesanya

If there is one young fighter deserving of every accolade in the world, it is none other than Israel Adesanya. After a fantastic 2018, where he not only made his debut but also defeated 4 top fighters on the drop, his 2019 has been nothing short of legendary so far, with the possibility of it becoming even more so.

In 2019, he took on and defeated, the UFC legend Anderson Silva. It was a Decision win and the respect he had for 'The Spider' Silva showed that he was about more than trash-talking and understood the importance of respect in MMA.

He then defeated Kelvin Gastelum to become the Interim UFC Middleweight Champion. The 'interim' word may not last for long in front of this latest achievement, as at UFC 243, he takes on the current Champion, Robert Whittaker. With Whittaker returning after a long time away from the Octagon, it remains to be seen how that fight will go.
