Anderson Silva banned for failed drug test, another huge title fight added to UFC 194

Silva has been suspended for a year.

In recent updates, Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has been handed a one-year ban for his failed post-fight drug test UFC 183 on Thursday. He has been fined his full $200,000 win bonus.

In addition to that he has been fined 30 percent of his $600,000 show money, (which totals $380,000) by the Nevada athletic commission. The victory against Nick Diaz has been overturned to a no-contest. Silva who twice tested positive for drostanolone metabolites first on January 9th and then on January 31st has to provide a clean drug test in order to resume fighting. Prior to his UFC 183 fight, he also tested positive for androstane, an anabolic steroid and temazepam and oxazepam further adding to his woes. This comes as a huge disappointment to fight fans.

His ban officially began on January 31st after his last fight and would be in effect up to February next year. He even failed to answer straightforward questions during the hearing.

In other news, the UFC has officially announced that the Conor McGregor- Jose Aldo PPV would have another huge title fight. UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will put his title on the line against former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold. The huge announcement was made on Thursday and it was also announced that it would be the co-main event of the evening. From these developments, the UFC 194 card is shaping up to be a promising event with huge title fights.
