Controversial internet personality Andrew Tate took to Twitter to detail his experience of being held in a Romanian jail cell.

Tate and his brother Tristan have been held in Romanian custody since December 2022. The brothers were picked up in a police probe and have been accused of multiple crimes such as rape, human trafficking and conspiracy to form a criminal group.

The law in Romania dictates that a person can held in custody for upto 30 days before being charged, however, Romania's judicial court extended their detainment until at least the end of February.

Whilst inside the jail, Andrew Tate's Twitter account has regularly updated fans about his experience. The posts are often cryptic messages, with recent ones depicting that the 36-year-old is starting to struggle as he admitted to nearly breaking down into tears.

Tate wrote on Twitter:

"Lock yourself in your bathroom without your phone or laptop and try to sit for an hour. I'm at day 43 and counting. I almost cried today. Almost."

The former kickboxing champion also addressed how his incarceration is affecting his children. Tate wrote that he doesn't feel sorry for himself, but for his children, who are currently without their father.

Andrew Tate tweeted:

"I do not feel sorry for myself. I understood my enemies were very powerful. But I do feel sorry for my children. They deserved a father."

Romanian UFC fighter Diana Belbita defends Andrew Tate

UFC strawweight Diana Belbita recently defended Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, claiming that the media and Romanian government are purposefully painting them in a negative light.

Belbita is a longtime friend of the Tate brothers after meeting them through a mutual friend a number of years ago. Since then, 'The Warrior Princess' has stated that her experiences with them have been nothing but positive.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda MMA, the Romanian fighter fiercely defended the pair and explained that she doesn't have a bad word to say about them:

"I've known the Tate brothers for [a] long time because we have a common friend. Sebastian was my manager and I fought in his league and the Tate Brothers even commentated [on] one of my fights... They were always nice to me... I don't have something bad to say about them."

Belbita added:

"I don't follow them much on social media, so I don't know what they are doing, but from what I know and I know them personally and they are okay, they are nice... People should focus on something else. Leave them alone... If they did something wrong, they'll pay for that... Give them a break, they are not that bad, how people think they are."
