Chael Sonnen is intrigued by Jake Paul potentially boxing Mike Perry.
‘The Problem Child’ is looking for his next boxing opponent, and a former UFC fighter is once again being considered. ‘Platinum’ fought for the UFC fifteen times between 2016 and 2021. Once he parted ways with the promotion, the 31-year-old found success in bare-knuckle boxing with wins against Bellator superstar Michael Page and Ultimate Fighter veteran Julian Lane. Perry also beat Michael Seals in a boxing match at Triad Combat 1.
During a video on his YouTube channel, Sonnen praised ‘Platinum’ by saying:
“Perry is red hot right now… He’s red hot. He just beat [Michael] Venum Page. That was not supposed to happen, but if you guys remember, back to the Triller event, Perry fought a guy who was a former WBA or WBO… a real world champion. Now I know it was former, but he was a world champion…”
After giving Perry credit, Chael Sonnen suggested ‘The Problem Child’ should consider boxing the former UFC fighter. He had this to say:
“I don’t hate the idea of him versus Paul. Now that isn’t some huge step, but there’s something there. It’s better than any idea I’ve heard. Oh, by the way, if I’m being fair, I’ve not heard a single other idea…”
Paul last fought in October, advancing his record to 6-0 by defeating MMA legend Anderson Silva. The former YouTuber has shown interest in fighting Tommy Fury and Nate Diaz, but neither has seemed to materialize. Perry could find himself with a golden opportunity to pull off another massive upset, especially considering he posted a contract for the fight being offered.

Chael Sonnen proposed a matchup between Jake Paul and Mike Perry in MMA
Jake Paul shocked the MMA world by signing with the Professional Fighters League. Although it’s unclear if and when he will compete in MMA, Chael Sonnen has suggested an intriguing matchup for the 25-year-old:
“Do you wanna see Jake box Mike Perry, or would you like to see him fight Mike Perry in MMA? Do you see where that is vastly different? MMA was your answer. MMA was absolutely the answer.”
‘The Problem Child’ has signed to PFL’s super-fight division, where fighters will receive 50% of the revenue. If Paul does fight in MMA, it’ll be intriguing to see what quality of opponent he receives. Mike Perry could be a possible opponent if the former YouTuber wants to truly test himself.
