Exclusive: Jon Jones has a message for his fans ahead of UFC 235

UFC 235: Jones vs Smith will be one of the premier events by UFC in this year.

Set to take place in Nevada, it is the biggest event of UFC so far in 2019, with two Title fights in the main event and co-main event.

The co-main event will see Tyron Woodley try to prove how dominant he can be when he takes on Kamaru Usman, in the biggest fight of the challenger's career so far.

Similarly, in the main event, Jon Jones will defend his UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Anthony Smith. This is Jones' second fight since coming back from suspension, and the Champion plans to fight quite a few more times this year.

I had the chance to catch up with Jon Jones and pose two questions before him prior to his fight at UFC 235.

Q. How’s your preparation heading into your fight with Anthony Smith - Do you have a specific plan?

JJ: I know a lot of people view him as being the underdog but you know he has had 70 fights – 30 amateur and 40 professional fights. I’ve only had about 25 fights, so my job is to know that I am up against a huge challenger and to take him seriously. I think if I do that, everything will be okay.

Q. Do you have a message for your fans ahead of your fight?

JJ: My message for my fans is thank you so much for sticking with me through the thick and thin. My fans support is what gives me the strength to get through the tough times and I’ll be sure to make you all proud again now that I am back.
