Lombard who is currently signed with UFC, had failed the post-fight drug test after UFC 182 when he was confirmed positive for DESOXYMETHYLTESTOSTERONE (an anabolic steroid) by Nevada State Athletic Commission. This was the first time that the former Olympiad had tested Positive for anabolic steroids.

Nevada State Athletic Commission showed no mercy for Lombard who tested positive, and handed a suspension for one year and fined $ 70,000. Hector was scheduled to face Rory McDonald at UFC 186, but was pulled out by the UFC after he failed the drug test. Hector stated that “he took some pills as well as as Z-Packs (antibiotics commonly known as Azithromax) which was given to him by an Olympic Weightlifter turned MMA fighter and those pills might have contained those banned substances”. But the commission was in no mood to pardon him and handed out the tight punishment.
