‘Mini-T’ Danial Williams appreciates how ONE Championship is showcasing Muay Thai competitions under their promotion.

As a life-long martial artist in MMA, kickboxing, and Muay Thai, Danial Williams is proud of the work ONE Championship has done to spread martial arts to the rest of the world.

Indeed, even as a spectator, Williams enjoys the entertainment factor they’ve been able to produce, especially for Muay Thai. For instance, using 4oz gloves instead of your typical 10oz gloves has been a real game-changer. In other words, the smaller the gloves, the bigger the impact.

Ahead of ONE Championship’s on-ground debut in the US, Danial Williams believes its Muay Thai competition will be a showcase that American fans can enjoy as much as he does.

The Aussie fighter told ONE:

“I find it very action-packed - three-minute rounds in the smaller gloves, pure striking. It’s just exciting. It’s good what they’re doing and we’ll see how it goes. It’s been talked about for a long time and it’s awesome how they’re moving, what they’re doing, and what they’re achieving.”

Williams staged his promotional debut in April 2021. As a former multiple-time Muay Thai world champion in another organization, Williams was immediately thrown into the deep end to face Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a flyweight bout.

Despite losing the fight by decision, the Aussie striker made a long-lasting impression. He made the fight into a real brawl, shocking fans with his skillset, durability, and perseverance. Deservingly, the match was voted the 2021 ONE Super Series Fight of the Year.

Danial Williams disappointed after ending 2022 with a TKO loss

Danial Williams hopes to turn things around this year after suffering a TKO loss against Filipino sensation Jeremy Miado, last October.

Soon after his Muay Thai battle with Rodtang, Williams switched to MMA full-time. He had three successful MMA matches in 2022, with notable wins over former ONE strawweight world champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke in Februarpower-hitter striker Namiki Kawahara in April, and Chinese powerhitter Zelang Zhaxi in July.

At ONE on Prime Video 3, Williams made a great effort to earn his fourth consecutive victory but regrettably fell short to Jeremy Miado with a devastating knockout in the final round.

Following up with ONE Championship, the Aussie striker reflected upon the incredible year he’s had and the disappointing loss to Miado:

“It was busy, man. A big learning year. I impressed some by my performances and disappointed some with my last one. It was good to be active, that was what I wanted. I’m very blessed to be active and get fights.”
