Gurdarshan trains alongside Jeremy Kennedy at the Revolution MMA in Canada. Kennedy was at the corner of Mangat when he fought Indian featherweight fighter in a catchweight fight at Brave 5: Go for Glory in Mumbai. Abdul Muneer was defeated after three rounds of action by unanimous decision.

Jeremy successfully navigated Mangat to avoid the vicious overhands and hooks unleashed by Muneer and to take the game to the mat where Muneer was vulnerable. This time, Gurdarshan will be facing Stephen Loman, who puts emphasis on wrestling and takes opponents down to the ground. This is sure to create new challenges for Mangat and his corner.

Meanwhile, Kennedy was to face Alexander Volkanovski (15-1) in a lightweight bout. Kennedy, who has won his last three fights since he joined the UFC, will now shift his focus on a return by the end of the year. He was forced to withdraw from 'UFC Fight Night', which was set to take place in Sydney, Australia. Kennedy announced that he is currently rehabbing a neck injury and the hope is that he will "be back before the end of the year."
