MMA News: Kyoji Horiguchi defeats Ian McCall in nine seconds

UFC 182: Jones v Cormier
Guchi
Gang!

Kyoji Horiguchi stopped Ian McCall in 00:09 seconds of the first-round via punches during the Rizin 10 event at Fukuoka.

Both Horiguchi and McCall are former UFC flyweights, and it was Kyoji's 6th and McCall's 2nd fight in Rizin.

The fight happened in the 61 Kg weight class. (Bantamweight).

With this victory, Kyoji remains undefeated inside Rizin and is on a nine-fight win streak. He only had two losses in his 24 fight long MMA career.

The last fight Kyoji lost was against UFC's Flyweight champion Dimitrios Jhonson in UFC 186 via an armbar.

The length of the fight was very unexpected and was a major disappointment for the fans who stayed up late to watch it get done in 00:09 seconds.

The fight didn't go the distance because of Ian's bad luck, and his chin was up and he was clearly overextending his punch.

The counter hook by Kyoji over Ian's straight was similar to McGregor's against Aldo. It was an excellent punch by Kyoji and great stoppage by the referee.

In his post-fight interview, Kyoji called out the striking maestro Tenshin Nasukawa for a kickboxing bout, Tenshin stopped Yusaku Nakamura with a second-round TKO in the same event.

Between January 2015 and December 2017, Ian McCall had been booked for six consecutive canceled fights, four of which were canceled during the fight week.

Previously in Rizin, McCall has been stopped by Manel Kape in the first round by TKO (doctor stoppage) during the Rizin World Grand Prix 2017: 2nd Round.

The odds are strong that McCall calls it a day after this defeat.

This was a super hyped fight, and fans were expecting it to go the distance with some exciting, back-and-forth exchange.

It was unpleasant to watch Ian McCall go down in 00:09 seconds, but that punch from Horiguchi was on point.

Hope he recovers fast and makes a return.
