The main event for the June 20th episode of ‘UFC Fight Night 69’ was officially announced. The event is scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany and the fight is between Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira, two Superstars who are looking to bounce back from their row of losses. In an interview with MMA Crazy TV, UFC President Dana White confirmed that the lightweight bout is set for the O2 world.
Gustafsson (16-3) last faced Anthony Johnson in a title eliminator and lost in the first round. He put a ‘Fight of the Year’ against the current champion Jon Jones at UFC 165 but lost the fight. The Swiss man needs to put an end to the row of losses to be back on the title frame. Amid the losses sandwiched between Jones and Johnson, Gustafsson secured a TKO win over Jimi Manuwa last March.
On the other hand, Teixeira (22-4) faced an unfamiliar situation in 2014 owing to his back to back losses. This 35 year old Brazilian has had a 20-0 winning streak prior to the losses to Jones and Phil Davis. Teixeira also dropped a decision to Jones at UFC 172.
This event gains a lot of prominence as far as the careers of these superstars are concerned. This is a chance for revival for both of them. Official announcement regarding any other matches of the event has not yet been made.
