At ONE Fight Night 7, 'The Situ-Asian' Martin Nguyen was well aware that he was in a must-win situation against Brazil's Leonardo Casotti. Coming off a disappointing loss in his previous bout, the stakes were sky high for the former two-division world champion.

Fighting aggressively was not an option for Martin Nguyen because he was looking to have a flawless match and uncover his opponent's weaknesses. While he is usually a knockout striker, Nguyen knew it was important not to rush in an attempt to find the opening.

During his ONE Fight Night 7 post-fight interview, the 33-year-old Nguyen explained:

"Yeah, definitely. I want to try to finish my opponents as much as possible and finish fights in general, but I had a tough opponent, and I had to ride it out and figure out his weaknesses as I went because we only had two days to prep for him."

'The Situ-Asian' spent most of his fight camp preparing for the unbeaten Dagestani Shamil Gasanov. Next, his opponent became Razhab Shaydullaev. Finally, two days before the event, it was settled that he would fight Leonardo Casotti. Nguyen did not have much prep time to focus on and train for his eventual opponent. He added:

"Those two days, it was mainly weight-cutting days."

Martin Nguyen is grateful to his training team

Former two-division world champion 'The Situ-Asian' Martin Nguyen is grateful to be competing in ONE Championship and training at Kill Cliff FC in Florida, USA. Ahead of his most recent matchup at ONE Fight Night 7, Nguyen shared on Instagram:
