MMA News: CM Punk hellbent on continuing his MMA career! Back in the gym!

CM Punk back in the dungeons!

CM Punk became the third WWE Superstar to enter the UFC Octagon to fight a legit MMA fighter, Mickey Gall. Punk with no prior professional MMA experience like his former colleague Lesnar, stepped inside the cage to make his MMA debut in the UFC, only to get ‘clobberred’ in the hands of his opponent.

Punk left the Octagon bruised but spoke some meaningful words about not giving up on one’s dream as he too wasn’t quitting after the loss. According to Mmamania.com, Punk’s training partner UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has revealed that Punk is back to his gym and has resumed training.

The former wrestler trains at under one of the most renowned trainers, Duke Rufous who owns Rufous Sports Academy. Rufous was a former kickboxer and is known for training guys like Anthony Pettis and his brother Sergio Pettis, and also has helped Tyron Woodley who partly trains under his wing. He is one of the best striking coaches in the sport.

Punk has been training with Pettis brothers and Rufous since January 2015. Despite committing himself to an year and a half of full time MMA training, he was completely dominated by Gall after making an amateur mistake at the beginning of the fight.

Dana White recently showed some interest in giving him another shot at glory and while many criticize the move, it’s makes a lot of business sense for the UFC.
