Danielle Kelly is on the fence about Tye Ruotolo’s recent callout of one of the best No-Gi grapplers in the world, Gordon Ryan.

About a week ago, the teenage prodigy made the first move by publicly calling out Gordon Ryan to a no-limit, submissions-only grappling match on Instagram. Ryan accepted the challenge, but with a few conditions.

He wants a large wager of more than $100,000 in the pot and Tye’s twin brother Kade, the newly-crowned ONE submission grappling world champion, in the mix.

The exchange grew even more heated as both fired personal jabs at one another, with Ryan mocking Tye’s first-round loss at the 2022 ADCC World Championship and Tye accusing Ryan of steroid abuse.

The trash talk between the two stars has been entertaining to say the least. However, Brazilian jiu-jistu star Danielle Kelly is unsure whether Gordon would be a good matchup for Tye.

Sharing her thoughts about a potential Ryan vs. Ruotolo showdown with The MMA Superfan, Kelly said:

“Being a smaller person, I kind of feel bad for the Ruotolo brothers because they are smaller than Gordon. I know Tye is 200 pounds or something, and Gordon is like 220-222. It’s not really the same because Gordon has a lot of muscle and Tye cuts to like 170 maybe or 180. The size difference is still a huge difference.”

Even though a grappling match between the two rivals would give fans the entertainment value they’re looking for, it’s uncertain whether or not they will put their big talk into action.

Danielle Kelly faces a new sambo opponent in Mariia Molchanova at ONE on Prime Video 4

Danielle Kelly is slated to face multi-time sambo world champion Mariia Molchanova in a submission grappling match on Friday, November 18.

After a successful promotional debut at ONE X, which earned her a $50,000 bonus, Kelly is excited to return to the circle nearly eight months after her grappling match with MMA legend Mei Yamaguchi.

As a staunch representative of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Danielle Kelly also has the opportunity to showcase why her discipline is superior to sambo.

Fortunately for her, Kelly is well-versed in sambo and knows exactly what sort of techniques to use in order to avoid a submission. She told ONE:

“I feel like they get a submission or they get an arm or leg on you, you would have to be really intelligent and actually know what you’re doing when you’re trying to get out of submission. We can’t just let them take an arm or a leg, or they’re going to break it.”
