Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is set to take on YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on October 29th.

The pay-per-view bout is scheduled to be held at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona. The fight card has some interesting undercard bouts, with Uriah Hall also in action.

Hall will be taking on American footballer Le'Veon Bell in a cruiserweight contest under boxing rules. 'Prime Time' left the UFC after losing back-to-back bouts against Sean Strickland and André Muniz. Both defeats came via unanimous decision.

Fellow MMA fighter and close friend of Nate Diaz, Chris Avila, is also competing on the undercard. Avila will feature on a Jake Paul card for a second time after previously beating Anthony Taylor at Paul vs. Woodley 2. The MMA fighter will be taking on YouTuber Dr. Mike Varshavski.

Why was Anderson Silva cut from the UFC?

Despite Anderson Silva easily being regarded as one of the greatest UFC fighters of all-time, the Brazilian had a poor end to his MMA career. Silva lost three back-to-back outings against Uriah Hall, Jared Cannonier and Israel Adesanya. Both Hall and Cannonier managed to win via stoppage.

In 2020, it was confirmed by Dana White that 'The Spider' had been released from his UFC contract despite having one fight left on his current deal. The Brazilian had a great UFC career and even holds the record for the longest title reign. He held the middleweight belt for 2,457 days.

Silva's incredible UFC title streak was ended by Chris Weidman at UFC 162. The American managed to finish the bout in the second round after the Brazilian was caught showboating and dropped to the ground while receiving a flurry of punches.
