Anissa Meksen is intrigued by the challenge of her upcoming mixed rules bout against Stamp Fairtex.
Meksen has over 100 fights between Muay Thai and Kickboxing. ‘C18’ is now taking on a new challenge. The 34-year-old will take on Stamp in a mixed rules bout featuring MMA and Muay Thai rules at ONE on Prime Video 6.
The seven-time Kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion admitted that a mixed-rules bout wasn't initially t on her radar:
“I love the challenge, so I took it, simply.”
During the same interview with ONE Championship, Meksen was asked why fans loved mixed-rules bouts. She responded:
“Fans just want to see fights. My fans want to simply see me in the circle. It doesn't matter if it's Muay Thai, kickboxing, or MMA. They just want to see my fights.”
MMA legend Demetrious Johnson and Muay Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon competed in a historic mixed rules bout in March for ONE Championship. ‘Mighty Mouse’ survived the Muay Thai rules and choked out Rodtang in the second round. It’ll be intriguing to see how Meksen adapts to the grappling of Stamp.
Anissa Meksen believes Stamp Fairtex has never fought someone like her
Anissa Meksen is highly confident in her striking. ‘C18’ won both of her fights in 2022 and looks to carry that momentum into 2023. During an interview with ONE Championship, Meksen had this to say when asked about fighting Stamp Fairtex:
“I have 123 fights and only four losses. If she doesn't care about my skills, my punches, everything, she’s never faced a girl like me. Believe me, I hope she will be ready on January 13 because I will smash her for sure.”
Stamp previously held the ONE atomweight Muay Thai and kickboxing world titles and also claimed the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix championship. Wherever the mixed rules bout goes, the Fairtex product will be comfortable.
On the other hand, Anissa Meksen’s striking is undoubtedly at a world-class level, but she is yet to showcase her grappling skills in a sanctioned fight. We’ll have to wait and see how she does if her match with Stamp reaches the MMA rounds at ONE on Prime Video 6.
