Former Glory kickboxing champ Anissa Meksen feels she's ready to grapple with Stamp Fairtex if their bout at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video reaches the MMA round.
The French-Algerian striker will be competing in a historic mixed-rules fight in just her fourth appearance inside the circle.
Many fans are of the belief that she'll succumb to Stamp's grappling if the bout reaches the second round. However, she's not worried about that. In fact, she feels prepared for the task, telling ONE Championship:
"I did judo for six years. Nobody knows that, but I have experience in judo and I work a lot on my wrestling. I’m ready for everything. I trained hard in wrestling and in grappling. I have a good team. It doesn’t matter what happens. I will be ready for sure."
Anissa Meksen reveals she has been training MMA longer than many people think
'C18' isn't entering the custom rules bout with zero MMA experience. While she hasn't competed in a pro MMA fight, she has been training in the sport for a handful of years now. The 34-year-old told ONE:
“I trained in MMA in 2017, and after that, I trained in MMA for three years. Now, I just came back and my skills feel good. It was a little bit difficult to come back, but now I feel better and I feel comfortable.”
Anissa Meksen added, claiming:
“I trained MMA for a long time now, I expect a fight so it’s good for me, it’s a good opportunity so let’s see what happens in January. I’m so happy it’s the first event we’ll do MMA and Muay Thai so I’m happy to do this."
Surely, Meksen's easiest path to victory is finishing Stamp Fairtex on the feet in the opening round. After that, all eyes will be on the striker to see if she can withstand the grappling attack of her opponent.
'C18' will be well on her way to a world title opportunity if she's able to defeat Stamp and pick up her fourth victory in as many tries under ONE's banner.
