Aung La N Sang decided to shave his beard and mustache, much to the delight of his wife, ahead of his return to the Circle at ONE 163 on November 18th.

‘The Burmese Python’ revealed to ONE Championship that he would not be shaving until he has reclaimed ONE gold. La N Sang suffered back-to-back losses to ‘The Dutch Knight’ Reinier de Ridder that cost him both the middleweight and light heavyweight world titles. He stated:

"It doesn’t matter who’s next. I just want to keep competing and keep getting better. I want the belt back eventually, but it’s up to ONE. I’m not shaving until I get my belt back, and my wife’s getting pretty tired of my beard [laughs]."

Though he is yet to reclaim a ONE world championship, Aung La N Sang showed up to an interview with South China Morning Post sporting a clean shave. Asked about the beard and mustache, Aung La said:

“The mustache? I don't need it anymore. Yeah. My wife was bugging me about the beard. The beard and mustache, so I was like, okay. Now I look 10 years younger.”

Aung La N Sang ready to get back into the win column against Yushin Okami at ONE 163

‘The Burmese Python’ Aung La N Sang returns to the Circle on November 19th when ONE Championship heads back to the familiar confines of Singapore Indoor Stadium. Meeting him will be another Asian MMA legend in Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami.

Aung La looks at his bout with ‘Thunder’ as the first step towards reclaiming the glory he had prior to running into undefeated Dutchman Reinier de Ridder, though he recognizes that in order to get back into the title picture, he will need to string together a few big wins.

"I have really high-level grapplers at my disposal that I can work with. So it's not a matter of, ‘Can I do it?,’ it's a matter of when. It's going to take time, I'm probably going to have to beat a few more guys. So it is what it is. I'm willing to climb back to the top."

More determined than ever, ‘The Burmese Python’ does recognize that it will take a considerable amount of time to climb back to the top of the mountain.

“It’s gonna take a year I think, I have a feeling that it’s gonna take a year. I had that run in me and I know it’s gonna happen.”
