Aung La N Sang offered his close friend Martin Nguyen words of encouragement.

Nguyen was once on top of the world as a two-division champion with ONE Championship. At 33 years old, ‘The Situ-Asian’ needs to prove he can regain a world title after losing three of his last four fights. Meanwhile, Aung La is in a similar situation and said this to SCMP MMA about the former two-division champion needing to get back to training:

“You need to come back and train. Come live here in my house and train. Just clamp down a little bit and train. It's part of the game, these young guys are hungry, and these young guys start at such a younger age that we're almost playing the catch-up game on our end. So I'm not saying that we can't do it, it's just that we got to put everything into it. So it would be good for him to come back and train and just be away from the family a little bit.”

Aung La is all too familiar with Nguyen’s situation. ‘The Burmese Python’ is also a former two-division champion who has lost three out of his last four fights. Both fighters have trained at Kill Cliff MMA, which could lead to them working together and getting back on track.

Aung La N Sang is focused on improving in all aspects of mixed martial arts

Aung La N Sang dominated his ONE Championship opponents before losing both the middleweight and light heavyweight titles to Reinier De Ridder’s superior grappling. During the same interview, Aung La had this to say about continuing to evolve as a martial artist:

“Well, I need to get better, you know. I need to be more well-rounded, and I need to be better in all aspects of mixed martial arts, you know. That’s the reason why I still compete, it’s because I want to keep growing, and I want to keep evolving as a mixed martial artist.”

Aung La has nothing left to prove, but his desire to evolve could lead to another world title run. After losing to Vitaly Bigdash in February, ‘The Burmese Python’ returns against Japanese legend Yushin Okami at ONE Championship 163.
