No ONE Championship fighter has been more dominant since 2021 than Marcus 'Buchecha' Almeida, who is 4-0 with a quartet of first-round finishes. As he enters another year in the promotion, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion recently praised Chatri Sityodtong for all his work.
ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong has done a magnificent job of expanding the reach of his promotion past Asia. With the organization set to make its stateside debut in 2023, Sityodtong and his athletes couldn't be happier with the direction of ONE.
Brazil's 'Buchecha' was eager to sign with ONE Championship in 2021 after deciding to pursue MMA. Fast forward two years and he knows he made the right decision.
He recently told MMA Hoje:
"Yeah this is awesome. No words to describe Chatri. What he’s been doing for the athletes and for the organization, no one has ever seen anything like it and when everyone says the same thing about the same guy, you know it’s true."

'Buchecha' feels he's trending toward a heavyweight title shot
Upon signing with ONE, the world-class grappler had one goal in mind — becoming heavyweight champion. Now, Almeida feels he's close to earning the opportunity.
The 33-year-old has rattled off four consecutive victories (all finishes) inside the circle, including his most recent over Kirill Grishenko at ONE Fight Night 1 on Prime Video. 'Buchecha' believes he's ready for gold, telling the promotion:
“I have no one to challenge. But I am an employee of the company and the mission given to me I will be ready. I'm sure I'm getting closer to my goal, which is to fight for the title and win the belt. I have four fights and four wins.”
Marcus Almeida added:
“Among the heavyweights, I'm the guy who's been fighting the most, so I'm on the right track. I'm sure I'll get this chance to fight for the belt soon.”
Currently, a heavyweight title unification bout between Arjan Bhullar and Anatoly Malykhin is scheduled to take place at ONE Fight Night 8 on Prime Video.
