It appears as though Alistair Overeem won't be competing for GLORY Kickboxing for the foreseeable future as the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion is facing a 12-month suspension for a failed drug test.

The 42-year-old failed his post-fight drug test following his unanimous decision win over Badr Hari in their trilogy fight at GLORY Collision 4 this past October. As a result of his positive test, his win has now been overturned and the bout has now been ruled a no-contest

Vechtsport Info first reported the news on Twitter by reporting that the result of the trilogy fight would be overturned, writing:

"BREAKING...Alistair Overeem was suspended for 12 months by Glory Kickboxing. Bout with Badr Hari ruled a No Contest! Read more below in our exclusive"

GLORY also released a statement that a 12-month suspension would not be the only course of action being taken against 'The Demolition Man.' He will also have to return a percentage of his fight purse from the event for failing his drug test and will lose his place in GLORY's rankings.

"Alistair Overeem has been removed from the GLORY rankings and his fight again Badr Hari is ruled a "No Contest" due to a violation of GLORY's anti-doping rules. His suspension is for 12 months, starting at his last fight - COLLISION 4. And he must return a percentage of his wages."

It remains to be seen whether the anti-doping violation and suspension will signal the end of the 42-year-old's tenure with the kickboxing promotion.

Will Alistair Overeem return to MMA?

Alistair Overeem could possibly receive offers from MMA promotions should he part ways with GLORY.

Despite his anti-doping violation and suspension from GLORY, the former UFC title challenger still carries a lot of name recognition and could be an asset for an MMA promotion looking to generate more attention for one of their upcoming events.

An MMA promotion could perhaps see value in signing 'The Demolition Man' even if it's for a one-off fight.
