Conor McGregor recently reacted to Ilia Topuria's retirement plans. The Spaniard earlier stated that he wants to call time on his career by the age of 30. Meanwhile, McGregor claimed that he accomplished everything when he was Topuria's age.

There's hostility between McGregor and Topuria, as the two have repeatedly attacked each other on social media and in interviews. While many assume the 27-year-old is attempting to emulate McGregor's personality, Topuria has recently expressed his wish to retire by the age of 30.

In an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, the reigning featherweight champion said that he has lost the motivation to defend his title as he intends to move up to lightweight and retire by 2027.

''I’m 27, I hope to be out by 30. Right now, in my division, I no longer have the motivation to defend the belt anymore. Now I want to move up a category and we'll see how everything goes."

In reaction to Topuria, McGregor reflected on his career in a now-deleted X post, writing:

''Here's the truth that will hurt all the little wannabe nobodies. Fighting was too easy for me, I done it all by 27 years old.''

In the aforementioned interview, Topuria, who has previously called out reigning lightweight champion Islam Makhachev, expressed his desire to face former champion Charles Oliveira at 155 pounds next year, given Makhachev is scheduled to face Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 311.

Topuria had a successful 2024, defeating Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway, at UFC 298 and 308, respectively.

As for McGregor, his octagon return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 was scrapped as a result of a toe injury sustained while training.

Ilia Topuria reacts to Conor McGregor's assault case

Ilia Topuria has gone from being a fan to a critic of Conor McGregor. He doubled down on McGregor after 'The Notorious' was found liable for assaulting Nikita Hand in 2018.

In a recent interview with El Chiringuito TV, Topuria claimed that he doesn't want his name to be linked to the Irishman due to his legal issues.

''It interested me, but it doesn't anymore. He's going through very serious personal problems. I have no desire to share the octagon with someone like that."
