Danial Williams optimistic on Rui Botelho's chances against former world champion Jonathan Di Bella: "He could have the goods"

ONE Championship MMA, kickboxing, and Muay Thai competitor Danial Williams believes Portuguese kickboxing star Rui Botelho can pull off an upset over former ONE 125-pound kickboxing world champion Jonathan Di Bella at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6. In an exclusive conversation with Sportskeeda MMA, the Kao Sok Muay Thai and Scrappy MMA product said:

"I don't know, man. I don't know. He's fought in the division above before, and he's always been ready to take on anyone. On the other end, who knows, maybe Jonathan Di Bella can school him, too. But I think Rui can hang in there, and as I said, he could have the goods to beat Di Bella as well."

After claiming his first win under the ONE banner in March 2019, Botelho was on a four-fight losing streak between May 2019 and March 2023. However, the Dinamite Team athlete did not let the setbacks get to him. He outlasted Zhang Peimian in November 2023 and Thongpoon this past October to set up a potential strawweight kickboxing world title eliminator bout with Di Bella.

Danial Williams will also compete at ONE Fight Night 26, where he will trade leather with the formidable Thongpoon PK Saenchai in a strawweight Muay Thai bout.

In another interview with Sportskeeda MMA, 'Mini T' broke down his keys to victory inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand:

"So there's two ways we can look at it I think - the technical style of mine or the usual all-out style I bring. Both can happen I feel and I'd need both against a guy like Thongpoon, you know."
