Demetrious Johnson would prefer to see his children choose a career outside of professional fighting.

Over the last 17 years of competing at the highest level, ‘Mighty Mouse’ has established himself as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. That success has afforded him the opportunity to provide a comfortable life for his family. However, Johnson hopes that his children will grow up choosing a more conventional means to make a living.

During a recent Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), the reigning ONE flyweight world champion was asked by one fan if he would encourage his children to pursue MMA. Johnson responded, saying:

“No, I would not encourage my kids to do MMA. They train [jiu-jitsu] right now, but I think as a fighter they would make more money in a career that pays six figures than trying to make it in the cage.”

Demetrious Johnson, 36, is staring down the barrel of retirement, but before he heads off into the sunset, he will look to score perhaps the biggest win of his career on ONE Championship’s biggest night.

On May 5, the Asia-based promotion will head to the United States for the very first time. The 1stBank Center in Colorado will play host to ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. Stacked top to bottom with the biggest names in ONE Championship, flyweight great Demetrious Johnson will defend his ONE world championship for the first time against former eight-time titleholder Adriano Moraes.

With the series currently tied 1-1, Johnson and Moraes will close out their already iconic trilogy in front of a sold-out North American crowd. Unable to attend the event live? No problem. Amazon Prime Video subscribers can catch all the action from ONE Fight Night 10 live and for free in U.S. primetime.
