Mixed martial arts legend Demetrious Johnson is not one to shy away from challenges but knows how to pick his battles.

The reigning ONE flyweight world champion was asked at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video if he was down for a grappling match with American champion Mikey Musumeci, and ’Mighty Mouse’ did not mask his answer.

Demetrious Johnson said:

“Yeah, I'm probably down to grapple with Mikey Musumeci. I mean, he's a wizard. I think with me, we’d grapple before we even grappled in the circle. I told him, I was like, ‘Dude, once you grab my legs, I'm tapping because I am not going to play that game and test my flexibility.’”

He continued to give his thoughts on the potential matchup:

“I've had tears in my LCL and MCL before just fighting in mixed martial arts because my knees are pretty tight. So yeah, I'm totally down to do that. But I'm going to tap extremely fast. I don't have the resilience that Gantumur has with my knees.”

Musumeci successfully defended his ONE flyweight submission grappling belt against Gantumur Bayanduuner and won via a unanimous decision at ONE Fight Night 6 on January 13 in Bangkok.

'Darth Rigatoni' was dominant in the contest, beating on his opponent’s leg for much of their 10-minute bout. The Mongolian did not tap out despite the punishment he took but paid dearly for it later as it left his leg shattered.

Demetrious Johnson was circle side at ONE Fight Night 6 as a spectator and guest commentator. He will return to action at ONE Fight Night 10 on May 5 in Colorado against rival Adriano 'Mikinho' Moraes of Brazil. It will be ONE Championship’s first-ever event in the United States.

Demetrious Johnson shares his favorite moments from ONE Fight Night 6

ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson was both a spectator and a guest commentator at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video and came away impressed with the action that the event offered.

Demetrious Johnson specifically cited fights involving Aung La N Sang, Mikey Musumeci, and Chingiz Allazov as among those that stood out for him. In the post-fight press conference, 'Mighty Mouse' said:

"It was amazing. Major fights from start to finish. The Aung La fight was amazing, just the crowd. I think the crowd's energy was more amazing than the fight itself, in my personal opinion. The Mikey Musumeci fight, Gantumur's resilience, his flexibility in his leg. That was absolutely amazing. And then that final fight against Chingiz versus Superbon. Chingiz blew the roof off tonight."

Aung La knocked out returning Brazilian fighter Gilberto Galvao in the first round, while Musumeci beat tough challenger Gantumur Bayanduuner by unanimous decision.

Allazov, meanwhile, power-punched his way to the ONE featherweight kickboxing world title with a second-round KO of former champ Superbon Singha Mawynn.

Demetrious Johnson became ONE flyweight champion in August last year after beating Adriano Moraes at ONE on Prime Video 1.
