Demetrious Johnson talks about his relationship with Adriano Moraes

Demetrious Johnson is booked to finish his trilogy against Adriano Moraes on May 5, headlining ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, and he recently discussed how much respect he has for Moraes. While speaking in an interview with SCMP MMA, 'Mighty Mouse' said:

"It’s all respect. Adriano is a great athlete, one of the longest reigning champions in the flyweight division in ONE Championship."

Moraes and Johnson have each knocked the other out in their series. The two will fight for the third and final time at 1stBank Center in Colorado. This is not the first trilogy of Moraes' career though. The US-born athlete said:

"He’s gone back and forth, done trilogy fights with Kairat Akhmetov. I know he had a trilogy with Geje Eustaquio. Now he’s going to have a trilogy with me, so he’s kind of been in this territory before. I have as well, but typically I just go 2-0 against my opponents. "

Demetrious Johnson may aim for a submission against Adriano Moraes in trilogy bout

ONE Fight Night 10 will be ONE Championship's inaugural event in the USA. 'Mighty Mouse' has spent years fighting away from home, but now that ONE is in his backyard, he is looking forward to the event. During the ONE Fight Night 6 broadcast, Johnson said:

“It's amazing, you know, I've been loving my journey here in Asia, but now, to take it back home to the USA, I cannot wait.”

Moraes and Johnson have already defeated the other via knockout. But coming into their third fight, Demetrious Johnson said that a submission win might be the aim. He added:

“I’m always gonna go out there and push the pace. I'm looking for the finish, right? So if I go out there and get a knockout, I'll take that. But you know, I was on my back a lot in the second fight so maybe I can, you know, use these little legs and get a triangle submission. We'll see.”

ONE Fight Night 10 will be free for Amazon Prime Subscribers in North America. The event will be broadcast during US primetime on May 5. The highly anticipated trilogy between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes is set as the main event.
