Spencer Lee is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler who competes at 125 pounds (57kg). At just 24 years old, Lee is a generational talent and is considered to be one of the greatest freestyle wrestlers currently competing, which was evident by his three gold medals in his age-group at the Freestyle World Championships.

Lee's other accolades include being a three-time NCAA Division I champion, a two-time winner of the Big Ten conference and winning the James E. Sullivan award.

'Yoda' made headlines this week when he suffered a shocking upset loss to Matt Ramos in the 125-pound 2023 NCAA Championship semifinals. Ramos pinned Lee with just one second remaining of their match. The 24-year-old's loss prevented him from becoming a four-time NCAA Division champion and ended his stunning 58 match winning streak.

Lee also later medically withdrew from his third place match-up, meaning he finished in sixth place in the 125lb division.

It has been a long road of recovery for Spencer Lee. He will medically forfeit out of the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships today in Tulsa."

Lee's mother also went viral for her reaction to the major upset. Understandably emotional watching her son lose his match, she was unable to control her emotions as she burst into tears and snapped her own glasses.

Henry Cejudo believes Spencer Lee's semi-final loss to No.4 seed Matt Ramos is one of the biggest upsets in NCAA wrestling history.

"The biggest upset, second to Dan Gable, is Spencer Lee. Going into the semis and getting pinned, getting stopped on becoming a four-time champion? That one hurt...I wanna wish everyone who competed at the NCAA the best. This is why wrestling is the king of kings and the king of sports, man. This is where all these UFC fighters are bred."

In regards to wrestlers and the future of the UFC, Cejudo added:

"There's gonna be a new heatwave of wrestlers coming in...There's a bunch of these guys already thinking about MMA."
