Dricus du Plessis labels Khamzat Chimaev “a very big challenge,” says potential fight against ‘Borz’ will be “absolute chaos”

Dricus du Plessis recently opened up on a potential fight against Khamzat Chimaev. The South African accepted Chimaev as a tough rival and predicted their clash to be a chaotic affair.

Chimaev's last encounter at UFC 308 once more proved why he is considered one of the scariest fighters on the current UFC roster. The Chechen-born annihilated former middleweight champ, Robert Whittaker, with a submission victory in the first round.

Moreover, his face crank caused three of Whittaker's lower incisors to break out of the alignment of teeth in his lower jaw. This victory cemented Chimaev as the most deserving contender for the next shot at the UFC middleweight gold, currently in du Plessis' possession.

The South African appeared in a recent interview with Submission Radio, where he weighed in on how a fight between him and 'Borz' would play out. Du Plessis mentioned that it would be far from lackluster:

"It’s gonna be absolute chaos. I just think I don’t see coming in with a different game plan, and me neither. I’m not going out to defend Khamzat’s takedowns. I’m going there to attack."

Du Plessis also considered Chimaev's potential and counted him as a challenging rival:

"The Khamzat fight, it's a new challenge, and it's a very big challenge. I think Khamzat is an incredible athlete. He's an incredible wrestler, he can strike, he's tough, he works hard."
