Emiliano Fernando Vargas vs. Larry Fryers: Live round-by-round updates

Emiliano Fernando Vargas vs. Larry Fryers at super lightweight will go down later tonight (Sept. 20) on the undercard of Jaime Munguia vs. Erik Bazinyan at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Vargas (11-0) is one of the top youngsters at 140 pounds. The 20-year-old sports a fan-friendly style and has finished nine of his fights by knockout. 'El General' was last seen in a first-round TKO over Jose Zaragoza.

Fryers (13-6-1) meanwhile has looked less than stellar in recent years. He is 2-2-1 in his last five and was on a three-fight skid before that. However, 'Lethal' will be coming to this Friday's fight on a two-fight win streak.

Per bet365, Vargas is a -5000 favorite over Fryers (+1600 underdog) for the matchup.

Fryers comes out aggressive, backing his opponent with jabs. Vargas stings his opponent with a body punch. 'Lethal' is giving his opponent no breathing room. A quick one-two by Vargas momentarily wobbles Vargas.

A quick left hook followed by an uppercut lands flush for Vargas. 'E' General' clearly has the speed advantage. Another right-hand buckles the legs of the Irishman. Vargas explodes with another quick jab to close out the round.

Vargas stings his opponent with a powerful left hook to the head to start out the round. Fryers is trying to get into the pocket a make it a dog fight, however, Vargas' quick hands are denying his opponent entry into the range.

A right uppercut lands for Vargas. He follows it up with a combination, going both upstairs and to the body. 'El General' shows off his superior footwork as he effortlessly avoids a flurry by his opponent. An overhand right lands for Vargas and Fryers fiers back with a straight punch.

Fryers is still in the fight and is trying to chain up an effective combo on his opponent. A liver shot lands for Vargas.

'El General' is landing a will at this point. A straight left hand sends Fryers stumbling back. Vargas swarms his opponent with a flurry near the ropes. However, Fryers fiers back and tries to punch his way out of trouble.
