No. 1 ranked bantamweight contender Fabricio Andrade expects a good back-and-forth battle between Anissa Meksen and one-time world title challenger Stamp Fairtex.

The two female warriors will square off for the first time in ONE Championship’s second-ever mixed-rules superfight. The bout, which will feature alternating rounds of Muay Thai and mixed martial arts rule sets, will go down as part of the promotion’s first event of 2023, ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video. The event will be headlined by a featherweight kickboxing world title fight as Superbon Singha Mawynn defends his crown against World Grand Prix winner Chingiz Allazov.

Ahead of Meksen and Stamp’s highly-anticipated showdown, Fabricio Andrade shared his thoughts on the contest and how it will differ from the first mixed-rules superfight between flyweight stars Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang Jitmuangnon:

“I think this one is gonna be different, you know. I think maybe Anissa is able to survive in the ground as well and we could see like three rounds, four rounds.”

With the first round being contested under Muay Thai rules, ‘Wonder Boy’ believes Meksen will bring the pressure to Stamp early on in an attempt to finish things before she has the chance to take advantage of the MMA rule set in the second round:

“The first round is gonna be Muay Thai, I think Anissa is gonna put the pressure on. I don’t know man, I think this one we’ll probably see like four rounds you know.”

2023 could be the biggest year yet for Fabricio Andrade

The self-proclaimed uncrowned king of the bantamweights had an incredibly successful 2022, but things could be even bigger for Fabricio Andrade as we finally hit 2023.

Continuing right where he left off the year prior, Andrade scored two big wins in 2022, defeating Team Lakay’s Jeremy Pacatiw via first-round knockout. Keeping the trend going, he delivered a first-round destruction of Kwon Won Il, only needing 62 seconds to dispatch the South Korean with a brilliantly placed body kick. That win earned Andrade a shot at the ONE bantamweight title, then held by John ‘Hands of Stone’ Lineker.

The two heavy hitters met in the main event of ONE on Prime Video 3, delivering an exciting back-and-forth brawl that tragically ended in a no contest. Despite the anticlimactic finish, Andrade looked marvelous in the contest up until an accidental low blow that ended things early. As a result, Fabricio Andrade and John Lineker will run it back on February 10.

If ‘Wonder Boy’ can replicate that same performance, there is little doubt he will walk out of ONE Fight Night 7 in February as a ONE world champion.
