Filipino-American fighter Jackie Buntan is happy and excited for the progress that women's combat sports have made through the course of the years and is expecting an even brighter future for it.

The 27-year-old Boxing Works standout spoke about it in a conversation with ONE Championship just as she girded for her scheduled match at ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Buntan shared that it has been an honor to be part of the progress of women's combat sports and that she is bracing for bigger things ahead for female athletes like her, saying:

"I'm blessed and I'm proud to be part of that. And I just think 10 years from now, combat sports, especially female combat sports, is gonna be like I could only hope. But I believe it will blow itself out of the park where it is right now."

Jackie Buntan will continue to banner women's sports and athletes when she vies for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title at ONE 169. She will take on seasoned kickboxer Anissa Meksen in the co-headlining title clash.

ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug will be aired live and for free in U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Jackie Buntan thrilled at the thought of winning world title at Lumpinee Stadium

Jackie Buntan is looking forward to finally claiming a world title in her scheduled match at ONE 169 on Nov. 8 in Thailand. And to do it at Bangkok's famed Lumpinee Stadium will make it even more special.

Buntan made this known in an interview with Beyond Kick ahead of her showdown with Algerian-French fighter Anissa Meksen for the inaugural ONE women's strawweight kickboxing world title. She was also aware that the hallowed arena used to have a tradition of not allowing women to touch the ring, let alone fight in it.

The California-based striker said:

"Oh, it would mean everything. I was grateful to fight in Lumpinee for the first time earlier this year on an all-women's card on International Women's Day. That was a very, very big deal. Being able to do it again with the magnitude of this fight, it's really cool to be part of history."

At ONE 169, Buntan will make another go at a world title after her failed bid for the inaugural women's strawweight Muay Thai gold in April 2022, where she lost by decision to Smilla Sundell of Sweden.
