ONE heavyweight MMA stars Oumar 'Reug Reug' Kane and Marcus Almeida gave fans a look at what happens when a world-class wrestler takes on one of the greatest Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) practitioners in the world at ONE Fight Night 13 in August 2023.
The Senegalese star surprised Almeida by taking control of the stand-up game while landing hard ground-and-pound punches from top position. Though 'Buchecha' fared much better in the second round, Kane's excellent ground control and striking in the final frame ultimately gave him the unanimous decision win.

Ending the 17-time BJJ world champion's four-fight winning streak to start his run in ONE marked Kane's third-straight victory since suffering a shocking TKO defeat to Kirill Grishenko in April 2021.
Kane's next foray inside the circle will see him challenge three-division MMA king Anatoly Malykhin for the ONE heavyweight MMA world championship in the main event of ONE 169: Malykhin vs. Reug Reug on Nov. 8 inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

"Anatoly Malykhin speaks with his fists, you know. And 'Reug Reug' he's getting better, better, and better in his stand-up, his boxing or kickboxing skills. So, it's a super fun fight."
