After winning three of his four fights in ONE Championship by knockout, Thai phenom Tawanchai PK Saenchai earned his shot for the ONE featherweight Muay Thai world title against Petchmorakot Petchyindee in September 2022 at ONE 161.
The Singapore Indoor Stadium witnessed this championship showdown, and the world's largest martial arts organization published the full fight replay on their YouTube account with the video's description:
"The back-and-forth battle between Petchmorakot Petchyindee and Tawanchai PK.Saenchai for the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 161 - proudly presented by @TumiTravel!"
It was an exciting clash between the two Thai superstars, with the defending champion thriving into close range on the clinch and the challenger succeeding in sniping his strikes from range.
The first four rounds were equally matched in output, but Tawanchai's strikes had more sting compared to Petchmorakot.
However, the fifth and final round was the decider, with the PK Seanchai representative punctuating the win with several combinations that clipped the Petchyindee Academy-affiliated athlete.
This last round of barrage has swayed the judges to give him the unanimous decision nod, officially becoming the undisputed king of the weight class and beginning a new era of dominance.
Tawanchai to face Superbon in a championship rematch on Jan. 24 at ONE 170
The 25-year-old Muay Thai phenom will now put his 26-pound golden belt for the fifth time as he takes on the reigning ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon in a championship rematch on Jan. 24 in the main event of ONE 170.
Tawanchai drew first blood in their head-to-head score when he eked out a majority decision win over Superbon in their first meeting in December 2023 at ONE Friday Fights 46.
He now looks to reassert his mastery over the Superbon Traning Camp representative and maintain his status as the unquestioned king of the division.
