Ginny Fuchs' OCD, otherwise known as obsessive-compulsive disorder, is actually one of the reasons behind her extreme commitment to boxing. The mental disorder is defined by a hyperfocus is on a specific phenomena that causes personal distress.
Only by engaging in specific, often repetitive, behaviors can the person suffering from the disorder find temporary relief. In Fuchs' case, her OCD is related to cleanliness. By focusing on improving on her craft, however, she has managed to gain more control over the disorder.
She touched on her personal difficulties in an exclusive Olympics interview from May 13, 2021. At the time, Fuchs was dreaming of capturing Olympic gold for the United States. Unfortunately, she fell well short of that goal, but her desire to win drove her to overcome her OCD even more.

"Boxing is like therapy for me because it takes my mind out of that OCD world. I go into the gym and my main focus is on getting better at my job. I know that when we are sparring I'm getting other people's sweat and blood on me, but I don't think about that because my main focus is to get better."
By focusing on the task at hand, which is bettering herself as a boxer to achieve her lifelong dream of Olympic glory, Fuchs found a formula to overcome her OCD. Despite coming up short in the round of 16 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which was held in 2021, she has not stopped striving for success.
