Tagir Khalilov is ready to show why he's considered one of the toughest sluggers in ONE Championship. The Russian mauler will take on Chinese rising star Liao Shixu in a 140-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout at ONE Fight Night 32 on Friday, US primetime, at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Khalilov said he'll bank on his experience to humble the 19-year-old striker.

Khalilov, who's fought in ONE Championship since 2021, faced off against some of the best strikers in history, including Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Superlek Kiatmoo9.

"Experience. I’ve been through a lot in this sport. Nothing surprises me anymore. I’ve won, I’ve lost — and losses build character too. Youth is great, but it doesn’t win fights by itself. I don’t fear anything at this point.

Tagir Khalilov added he won't hunt for a finish in their Bangkok duel, but he won't hesitate to put Liao to sleep if he finds the opening.

"I never go in chasing a finish, but if I see the opening, I’ll take it. I’m always ready to go the full distance. That said, I plan to fight hard from the opening bell. He’s young — it’s time he learns what the real level feels like," he said.

ONE Fight Night 32, just like all of ONE Championship's Amazon cards, is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

Tagir Khalilov says fatherhood inspired him to do more in his career

Tagir Khalilov isn't just fighting for himself. After becoming a father to his young son Malik, Khalilov said he's been inspired to become a better fighter and a more valued member of his community.

Khalilov said:

"Yes, I became a father, and that’s been a huge motivation. Everything I do now is with my son in mind."

He added:

"I’ve always been involved in social work and community projects, and I still am. Sometimes it’s nonstop — morning to night, with barely any time to rest — but I’ve learned how to recover when I need to. After this fight, I’m planning to take a proper break for at least a week, just to spend time with my family."
