MMA News: India’s Gurdarshan 'St Lion' Mangat joins Brave Combat Federation

Gurdarshan will fight on the Brave 2: Dynasty fight card on December 2nd

Brave have unveiled their latest superstar signing as the Indian prospect Gurdarshan Mangat (8-1). Gurdarshan will fight on the Brave 2: Dynasty fight card on December 2nd. The Indian/Canadian fighter trains at the famous Tristar gym and will be the 5th Indian fighter to be featured by the Brave Combat Federation.

He has amassed an impressive record as a professional and has gone from strength-to-strength in his career. He has been showing his killer instinct in the cage, gaining a reputation as a fighter who finishes his opponents.

After being part of Revolution Fight Team, Mangat joined the famous Tristar gym, which has produced famous fighters such as Georges St Pierre and Rory McDonald. Tristar gym is where Mangat focused more on his ground skills.

Mangat talked about his Sikh heritage and how it helped him with his pursuits in the cage:

“I am a Sikh and we are a warrior religion. I think about all the heroic tales of courage in the face of adversity our people have gone through and I use that to find strength when I am getting into the cage.

I want to follow the true path of a warrior and when you are a Sikh it is in our history.”

He further went on to add:

“I want to be a good person outside the cage but inside I want to unleash a lion. This is about sacrifice and when it is all in front of me in my religion it just makes it that much easier for me to push myself in training and through the later rounds in fights.”

What makes the Indian Mixed Martial Artist more lethal is his ground approach, particularly the Rear Naked Choke that has finished five of his eight victims.

He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak with a hat-trick of Rear Naked Choke wins. He also proved in his last fight he could go the distance if necessary, gaining a unanimous decision win over Damien Wood.

Mangat has constantly expressed his desire to reach the pinnacle of the sport and he will continue his journey at Brave 2: Dynasty on December 2nd.
