At ONE Fight Night 8, Ham Seo Hee defeated Itsuki Hirata in a No.1 contender’s clash in the atomweight division.

Whilst ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong confirmed to her that she will compete for a world championship next time out, it remains unclear who she will face.

Current atomweight world champion Angela Lee has been taking time away from training to mourn the loss of her younger sister Victoria.

As a result, ‘Hamzzang’ has got some thoughts on who she might be facing next time she steps inside the circle.

Stamp Fairtex rebounded from her MMA loss to Lee with a unanimous decision win over Jihin Radzuan in October and is set to return to the division at ONE Fight Night 10 when she faces Alyse Anderson.

Should Stamp be victorious on May 5, she could be set up for a world championship clash with the South Korean veteran.

In an interview with the South China Morning Post on YouTube, Ham spoke about her desire to face the best atomweight in the world:

“Just in my thoughts, my prediction is Stamp wins... We gotta fight, and I gotta win, and only then I’ll know it belongs to me.”

Ham Seo Hee blasts Itsuki Hirata for making a boring fight

Ham Seo Hee vs. Itsuki Hirata at ONE Fight Night 8 didn’t live up to the fight’s high anticipation.

Whilst she secured the win and was very grateful to have put this chapter of her career behind her, ‘Hamzzang’ was critical of her own performance as well as that of her opponent.

After fans had to wait a long time to see the fight, the actual contest was quite an uneventful affair. With Hirata unable to close the distance and get the fight to the floor, the South Korean veteran was able to keep her on the outside with neither woman opening up and taking risks.

In an interview with SCMP MMA after she got her hand raised via a unanimous decision, Ham Seo Hee suggested that her opponent was responsible for making the fight a dull affair:

“One person’s effort is just not enough to make it an entertaining match and that’s what I felt.”

After being scheduled to face Hirata in November last year but the fight falling off because the Japanese fighter missed weight, Ham is just happy to pick up the win and move on to bigger and better things.

With a perfect run of three wins under the ONE Championship banner, we will soon have clarity around Ham's next opponent, with the common consensus being that she will face Stamp Fairtex next time out.
