Noaya Inoue's explosive power was on display in the recently concluded fight against TJ Doheny at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. 'The Monster' won the fight by TKO in the seventh round and retained his undisputed super bantamweight title.
Inoue displayed a measured approach in the fight in the early rounds as Doheny made things difficult for the champion with his offbeat fighting style. It took Inoue a couple of rounds to gauge the movement of his opponent and draw calculations.
When he did that, he started investing in the bodywork, hurting Doheny with digging shots to the body. The Irishman fired back with quick combinations but Inoue shrugged off the incoming onslaught. He picked up the pace and started dictating the terms in the later rounds, which began to take a toll on his opponent.
In the seventh round, Inoue stifled Doheny with a few straight punches before launching two digging shots to the body. Doheny limped in pain, suggesting an injury, as the referee waved off the fight at the 0:16 mark of the seventh round.
