Robert Downey Jr. is a big fan of Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of 'The Hulk', and UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan shares those sentiments.

The Iron Man star joined Rogan on episode #1411 of The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), where they spoke about superhero films and praised Ruffalo for his performance as 'The Hulk' in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The JRE host listed the actors who portrayed the role and highlighted Ruffalo as the actor he preferred, saying:

"Three 'Hulks' not counting the TV show...Eric Bana, (Edward) Norton, and Mark Ruffalo, who I think he's my favorite...Yeah, it's perfect. You believe him."

Downey Jr. chimed in by saying that Ruffalo was meant to play the role:

"He [Ruffalo] was just born for it...And again, his whole thing was, 'What's my action?' is like, 'I got an anger problem.'"

The Iron Man star then described what the challenging filming process was like for Ruffalo while he was shooting his scenes as 'The Hulk', saying:

"Speaking of Ruffalo, by the end because he is 'Smart Hulk'. They were just making him big wherever he was and they'd put a little piece of PVC with a big Hulk head up about five-feet over where his head was and he was just there in a green suit, in a tracking suit with his package out...And so, I think Mark went about as far out into the iononsphere of CG as you can."

The role of 'The Hulk' has been an interesting topic for years. Actor Eric Bana portrayed the role in the 2003 film, Hulk. However, the film franchise went through a reboot with the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk and saw Edward Norton replacing Bana as Bruce Banner, aka, 'The Hulk'. But the character was recast once again, this time with Mark Ruffalo in The Avengers franchise.

Robert Downey Jr. tells Joe Rogan about the production process for 'The Avengers'

During his conversation with Joe Rogan on episode #1411 of JRE, Robert Downey Jr. described what the production process was like for a massive film like The Avengers. When Rogan asked The Iron Man star about the production process, he explained that it would last years, and he even factored promotion into the total timeframe by saying:

"It could be some part of 18 months to two years depending on how far out you are and then 4-6 months of principal photography and then additional photography and then post, and then I always include promotion."

Downey Jr.'s description of the process for filming films like The Avengers, which have budgets that exceed $100 million, is very telling of just how grueling their schedules are.
