Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt Bruno Pucci cannot wait to lock horns with Canadian BJJ sensation Dante Leon at ONE Fight Night 26 on Dec. 6, inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Speaking with ONE, 'Puccibull' broke down what he expects from the promotional debutant:
"[Leon is] very well-rounded. He can wrestle. He has submission attacks. He also passes strong. He's pretty complete, as he should be as a black belt."
He continued:
"But I think, for this match, what I'm playing is the ring experience and the boundaries. I wanna see how that's gonna play out, and I'm excited for that. And, yeah, he's a strong opponent."
Leon reached megastar status in the international BJJ scene by winning two gold medals in the IBJJF No-Gi World Championships in 2019 and 2022. He also earned first-place finishes in the IBJJF Pan American No-Gi Championship in 2017, 2018, and 2023.
These accolades indicate Leon's bright future in ONE's submission grappling ranks. However, he must first overcome the battle-hardened veteran Pucci at ONE Fight Night 26.
ONE Fight Night 26 will air live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
Dante Leon shares why he signed with ONE Championship
Dante Leon recently shared why he ultimately chose to sign with ONE Championship earlier this month. In an interview with the world's largest martial arts promotion, Leon said:
"I see ONE as being a really premier organization, between their presentation, between how they conduct themselves, and a big thing is the athletes that are there."
He continued:
"There are extremely high-level grapplers over there that have held titles. Now, some of the most high-level on the planet, regardless of who you ask, regardless of what kind of competition rules that you're looking at, the best of the best are over there at ONE as far as submission grappling goes."
