As one may expect, former boxing star Ryan Garcia received an abundance of criticism after he openly declared himself as "anti-black" on social media. The African-American community in particular took offense to the sentiment from one of the biggest stars in combat sports.
One particularly passionate social media user — a TikToker who refers to himself as 'Da Mayor' — demanded that Garcia be "blackballed" from boxing for his comments. On July 6, the following day, 'Da Mayor' posted another video on his TikTok page, claiming to have seen Garcia in public, who assaulted him after a heated confrontation.
The TikTok user said:
"I ran into Ryan Garcia and he jumped me because I gave him my opinion on calling black folks the N-word. I told him he needed to be blackballed so him and his goons jumped me, and now I don't know if I'm gonna be able to walk again... God help me please in this cruel world. Ryan Garcia is a cruel man and he needed to be stopped."
