Artem Lobov and Conor McGregor were once close friends and training partners, but their relationship recently made news after Lobov sued the Irishman.

The Russian-born fighter claims to have played a major role in the creation of McGregor's 'Proper 12 Irish Whiskey' and wants his pound of flesh, namely, a five-percent cut of the total amount for which McGregor sold the company.

McGregor sold the company to Proximo Spirits for $600 million, meaning Artem Lobov is set to earn $30 million dollars should he succeed in his legal pursuit' against the former two-weight UFC champion.

Conor McGregor reportedly called Artem Lobov "a rat" via a Twitter audio message which has since been deleted by the Irishman, suggesting that the bond between the two fighters is now broken.

McGregor famously stood up for Artem Lobov after the Russian had an altercation with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The Irishman threw a dolly at a UFC bus that was transporting fighters, including Nurmagomedov, who was competing at UFC 223.

'The Eagle' took on Al Iaquinta at UFC 223 for the vacant lightweight belt. However, McGregor's outburst claimed most of the headlines and produced a perfect platform to build the hype for their clash at UFC 229.

However, Nurmagomedov had the last laugh, with the Russian submitting McGregor in the fourth round at UFC 229 in 2018.

Is Conor McGregor ever going to return to the UFC?

Despite currently being outside of the USADA testing pool, it seems Conor McGregor is keen to make a return to the UFC. However, the anti-doping agency has made it clear that the Irishman will need to be in the testing pool for six months before competing in the UFC.

McGregor has stated on Twitter that he will be ready for testing in February and hinted at booking a fight shortly after:

"I am clear for testing in February. I will complete my two tests per USADA and we are booking a fight."

Conor McGregor is currently on a two-fight losing streak in the UFC and hasn't fought in the organization since July 2021. 'The Notorious' lost back-to-back bouts against Dustin Poirier in 2021. McGregor's last win in the octagon came against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 back in January 2020.

The Irishman currently doesn't have a fight booked in the UFC. It seems likely that we won't see McGregor compete in the organization until late 2023.
