While Thai megastar Superbon enjoys competing in kickboxing matches, he admits that nothing still beats the thrill that Muay Thai brings.

The interim featherweight kickboxing world champion returned to his roots to challenge Tawanchai PK Saenchai for the featherweight Muay Thai crown at ONE Friday Fights 46 last year.

Despite losing a closely-contested decision verdict, Superbon says that match reminded him why he loved the 'The Art of Eight Limbs' so much.

The 34-year-old tactician shared in a recent interview with the South China Morning Post:

"I love it. I feel good with Muay Thai because I was born from Muay Thai. [It's] something I forgot because I fought in kickboxing for a long time. But when I started fighting against Tawanchai, it felt good because it’s more fun."

Superbon's fluid striking, sensational reflexes, and world-class technique certainly made him the perfect fit for kickboxing. Quite frankly, it's the main reason he rose atop the stacked division against some of the best kickboxers in the world.

Then again, watching Superbon back in his old wheelhouse was just a riveting experience. With elbows and clinching back on the table, Superbon's lethal arsenal was made even deadlier.

Good thing we won't have to wait long to see Superbon back doing what he does best.

Superbon says Jo Nattawut will be his stepping stone to a Tawanchai rematch

ONE Friday Fights 81 will feature some of the best strikers in the world, headlined by a featherweight Muay Thai clash between Superbon and Jo Nattawut.

Before 'Smokin' Jo figures in a trilogy with Tawanchai at ONE 169: Atlanta, Superbon says he'll first rough up his fellow Thai and prove he should be next in line for a title shot.

"I need to fight Jo in this fight to challenge for the World Title again. I don’t know which one between Jo and Tawanchai is going to win, but next title fight, for sure, is going to be me."

ONE Friday Fights 81 will air live in Asian Primetime on September 27 from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. The full event is available via PPV at watch.onefc.com
